Introduction by Dr Mark Shackleton

Beings with a deep understanding of the teachings of the Buddha are rare and precious in the world. Rarer still are those with the ability, commitment and patience to impart their understanding to others and in a Dharma-ending age such beings assume even greater importance. LuongTa Chanhphy Manivong is one who over lifetimes has developed this ability out of compassion towards the plight of others. In recent years, we have had the opportunity to meet LuongTa and receive his teachings and are greatly blessed, like many others with similar privilege, as a result.
The occasion, then, of the writing of Dharma book by LuongTa is one of great significance. The benefit such a publication brings to this world is immense. Through it, a vast number of beings are able to access the skills of this eminent teacher and thereby gain a better appreciation of the meaning of Dharma in their one lives.
LuongTa is a living example of one who embodies the Buddhas teachings. His Compassion, Energy and Wisdom are a great inspiration to those who wish to practice the Middle Way. In his teachings, one find simple, yet profound and practical examples that make the practice of Buddha Dharma highly relevant to everyday life.We thank LuongTa for teaching all beings the Dharma. Also, for his kind blessings along with fourteen other Buddhist Monks at our wedding on 2nd April 1994. May all Dharma teachers enjoy long life, Health, Strength and Wisdom. May the Blessings of the Lord Buddhas always be with them. May all beings find, practice and complete the Path to Wisdom.
