Vijja and Vimudhi - Their Nutriments
(1) Vijja and Vimutdhi - Nutriments are Bohjjong 7 (wisdom factors)
(2) Bohjjong 7 - Nutriments are Satipatthana 4 (foundation of mindfulness) which are:
|
|
1. Kayanupassana - Body examination 2. Vedananupassana - Feeling examination 3. Cittanupassana - Citta examination 4. Dharmanupassana - Dharma examination |
(3) Satipatthana 4 - Nutriments are Succarita 4 (honestly 4) which are:
|
|
1. Not to lie 2. Not to deceive 3. Not to speak fearfully and harshly 4. Not to speak unnecessary |
(4) Succarita 4 - Nutriments are Indriya Sanvorn 2
(5) Indriya Sangvorn - Nutriments are Satisampanya
(6) Satisampanya - Nutriments are Yonisomanasikana
(7) Yonisomanasikana - Nutriments are Saddha (faith)
(8) Saddha - Nutriments are Listening to Sacca Dharma
(9) Sacca Dharma - Nutriments are discussion with Recognised Dharma Practitioners
Discussions with recognised Dharma practitioners will lead to a development of pure and complete and pure Saddha.
Bohjjong 7 will lead to development of a complete Vijja and Vimutdhi. These are the nutriments of Vijja Vimutdhi, that is, 3 completeness. In this way of Dharma practice in Buddhism, it is important to observe 2 special factors which is Yonisomanasikana (internal factor) and discussion with recognised Dharma practitioners (external factor) which will lead to Kanlayamit (true friendship) in society. These two important factors has Saddha as their binding factors.
It may be necessary to briefly revised these Dharma factors including practical methods in Dharma practice in order to make them clearer for some readers.
(1) Group of Dharma factors to extinguish sufferings and the system of Dharma practice to eradicate sufferings as follows:
Paticcasamupada - Nirodhathavana eradicates :
Avijja - Sankhara - Vinyana - Jata - Jara - Maranasoka - and so on
|
|
Upassaya (completely no doubts) eradicates Dukkha Matsimapatipadha (middle way of living one's life in a good way) or Mugga Samanadhitti (right view) Samma Sangkappa (right investigation) Samma Vaca (right speech) Samma Kammanta (right work/job) Samma Ajivva (right profession) Samma Vayama (right endurance/tolerance) Samma Sati (right concentration / awareness) Samma Samadhi (with intention of extinguishing sufferings) - eradicates Dukkha.
|
(2) Group of Dharma factors in Kusala Dharma which will lead to Vimutdhi (supreme bliss) by taking Dukkha as a base while continue on the opposite path with factors leading to sufferings. These are:
|
|
Yoni Sommanasika Piti (pleased with Dharma discussion) Patsatdhi (has no sufferings) Sukkha - Samadhi - Yadhaputayanathassana Biphidha (Avijja) Viraga (Dukkha) Vimutdhi (Saddha) Khayajhana (content) Kusol Sila - Avipatissana |
(3) The system of Dharma practice derived from factors for the eradication of sufferings (Mugga) is not natural factors, but it is a system of Dharma practice progressing steps by steps which will lead to the next higher steps as:
Sustainable Dharma factors - Discussion with recognised Dharma practitioners
- Listening to Sacca Dharma - Saddha (Faith) - Yonisomanasikana (discussion) - Sati Sampanya (realisation) - Indriya Sangvorn (controlled sense - door) - Succarita (righteousness) - Satipatthana (foundation) - Bohjjong - Vijja - Vimutdhi.
The way in which these Dharma factors is grouped together may be carried out systematically, but the details may be classified in many other ways depending on the purposes of each method. However, whatever steps are taken, it is centred around the level of the Trisikka which is Sila - Samadhi - Panya (Dharma Precepts - Concentration - Wisdom) which is the main principles when using the Mugga factors in the practice. In addition, I would like to give Dharma examples which some of you might have heard these three examples quite often as below:
